Artists Cookbook for Syria Vibes-Scoop foundation

Artists Cookbook for Syria Vibes-Scoop foundation

I was contacted by Andy sweeney, founder of the Scoop foundation and organiser of Syria vibes. I was asked if I wished to contribute a piece of work towards the Artists Cookbook which consisted of about 100 Irish Artists providing a piece of artwork in the form of their favourite recipe with step by step instruction. Being from Northern Ireland and not the greatest when it comes to my cookery skills I couldnt think of anything better than my version of “The Ulster Fry”. This recipe being my own I came up with the “Maguire Sizzler” which consists of double helpings of brown sauce, bacon, mushrooms, beans, sausage and egg not forgetting the traditional and essential soda and potato bread.

The upcoming launch event for the new edition of The Artists’ Cookbook was a project 2 years in the making.

100 Irish and International artists were asked to share their love for cooking and creating by submitting their favourite recipe, plus an artwork illustrating it. The result is a unique art and cookbook – the first of its kind around the world!

Pictured above you can see my two page spread showing my recipe entitled “The Maguire sizzler” with my artwork print which is a carved woodcut available in limted edition prints of 100. The book launch was celebrated by running a slick event in Airbnb’s Dublin Headquarters – in their mind blowing state of the art warehouse office at Grand Canal Dock.

Their chefs produced special canapes for the night, Rascals beer company supplied the beer and there was also wine of course!

There was a bumper raffle on the night featuring original artworks from the cookbook, vouchers to the top restaurants in Dublin. The book is avaible to purchase on Amazon and retails at £24.99 .
